Last week students created their France passports! Students will be earning stamps by demonstrating their knowledge of French to you at home as we travel through France. Each page/Region is a different "I can" task that your student will come home and demonstrate to you. Please sign or initial that page after your student has showcased their knowledge of French with you! The "I can" statements can be found in Schoology as well as linked here! We will also be learning a little about each region as we travel through France!
Did you know that mardi gras means Fat Tuesday in English? mardi is the word for Tuesday! Students learned about and celebrated mardi gras in French class on Feb 8th & 9th. French students created masks to wear in traditional mardi gras celebrations around the world! Students saw a slideshow of where and how this tradition is celebrated differently around the world, including France & of course New Orleans! On the 15th & 16th we brought in traditional King's Cakes from Uncle Mikes Bake Shoppe for the students to sample! We tried both the cinnamon and cream cheese flavors and waited to see who would find the hidden "baby" in the cake! Be sure to ask your student why there is a baby hidden in the cake!! Here are some photos from our celebrations! Welcome to Lineville French class blog! We hope to update this blog periodically to share with you what we are doing in French class! This semester our students will take a journey through France and other Francophone (French speaking) countries to help them learn more about both the language & culture. Come on the adventure with us! Check out our travel semester introduction video below! Bon Voyage! |
